Builders Class - 1st $1000, 2nd $500, 3rd $150 and 4th $50

Limited Weld Class- 1st $1000, 2nd $500, 3rd $150 and 4th $50

Economy Class - 1st $500, 2nd $250, 3rd $150 and 4th $50

Chain Trucks - 1st $500, 2nd $250, 3rd $150 and 4th $50

General Rules

  1. All drivers are required to wear seatbelts, safety helmet, and eye protection. Neck brace is optional but recommended.
  2. All cars must be standard make with no reinforcement or alterations to the frame unless specified. 
  3. You must remove all glass, mirrors, trailer hitches and chrome.
  4. Car or truck must have 12inchx12inch hole cut in hood in case of fire.
  5. Brakes must be in working order. Minimum of 2 working brakes.
  6. Gas tank (steel only-no plastic) covered and strapped in the back seat or box. MUST HAVE FUEL CUT OFF WITH ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP (steel strapping or chains-no bungee cords on gas tank or battery).
  7. Batteries covered and strapped in passenger seat area. MUST BE COVERED FOR YOUR PROTECTION.
  8. One fire-you start; second fire-disqualification.
  9. You have 20 seconds to make an aggressive hit, 2 minutes to get vehicle started.
  10. No intentional crashing of the driver’s door, subject to disqualification.
  11. Vehicles must continue to crash. No avoiding, holding, tag-teaming or sandbagging. No using drivers door as a block.
  12. No riding on vehicles at any time. Drivers must remain inside vehicle during derby and when being towed, except for fires.
  13. Drivers door may be welded solid or reinforced in any way for safety, a window net or strapping is recommended
  14. Radiators must remain in stock position. Transmission coolers allowed.
  15. Driver is responsible for any member of his or her pit crew. Any rules found violated will result in disqualification of driver, pit crew, and car and will forfeit any winnings, entry fee, and trophies.
  16. **** NO DRUGS OR ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES IN PIT AREA BEFORE OR DURING THE DERBY. SUBJECT TO ARREST AND DISQUALIFICATION. THIS IS ENFORCED!!!!!
  17. For the derby all automobiles are acceptable except 1973 and older Imperials or convertibles. NO CARS WITH IMP SUB FRAMES.
  18. **** NO GREY AREA OR TECHNICAL BUILDING!!! IF YOU’RE TOLD TO CUT AND REFUSE TO YOU WILL LOAD YOUR CAR AND WILL NOT RUN. WE WILL NOT TOUCH YOUR CAR AFTER IT LEAVES THE TECH LINE AFTER REFUSAL TO CUT.
  19. All cars must have an electric shut off

Builder Class Rules

 Old iron and 80s and newer will run together under these rules

1.    Cage- Dash bar and behind seat bar and door bars allowed 2 inch min and 5inch max diameter and cannot be attached to frame. May have only 2 bars max; behind seat in a crisscross pattern. Must be securely fastened or you will be told to remove. Dash bar may connect to the firewall in 2 spots 3inch by 3/8inch max flat stock and cannot be placed within the dp. If you have a dp or mid plate, dash bar must be 6 inch away from firewall. If you have a tranny brace it must be mounted to cross member with factory tranny mount, free floating or 1 bolt to tranny mount. Dash bar must be 2 inches away from tranny tunnel. Halo bar can be welded to frame and door bar. You can have 2 down bars from the door bars only located within the dash bar and behind the seat bar and straight down to rocker area 1 door bar per side can go to the frame. You can run a gas tank protector that must mount from the behind the seat bar 30inch wide and can go to the sheet metal but must be within the frame rails with no down bars and be off the floor 2inches.

2.    Doors- **Please reinforce your driver?s door very well, in this type of competition all drivers doors will take some type of hit during the event. We want you to be safe and protected behind your reinforcement.** All doors may be welded solid with 3inch wide by 1/8inch thick strap or chained shut. Top of doors can be folded and welded together with no added metal.

3.    Hood and Trunk- Hood may be bolted in 8 spots, 4 to frame and 4 to sheet metal. The rod must be welded to top of frame and cannot run down the frame in any way where it touches is it. The back hood bolts can have a 4inch by ¼inch thick triangle gusset to help attach the rod to the frame on top. Trunk lid may be welded solid with 3inch by 1/8inch thick strap or bolted every 3inch. Trunk may be bolted in 6 spots 4 to frame and 2 to sheet metal. Trunk may have a 10inch by 4inch ¼inch strap from bumper to the trunk. You may tuck trunks. NO sedagons, decking must have a 12 by 12 hole in it for inspection.

4.    Seam welding- Frame can be welded fire wall forward top and bottom. Body seams can be welded 6 on 6 off. K-frame CAN be welded solid, May take out pucks and replace with 1inch bolts. Y framer can plate the y's.

5.    Body bolts- You may remove pucks front and back, you may add 3 extra body bolts per side which can also go to frame with a max of 6inch by 6inch washer?s DO NOT WELD TO ANYTHING. ALL bolts can be a max of 1 inch.

6.    Core support- Core support may have a 2 by 2 ¼inch angle iron on the top of core support from fender to fender. Radiator barrels are o.k. Bolted in 4 spots to core support or 4-2inch welds to core support to hold it in place. Must run vent tub under the car!

7.    Fenders- May bolt fenders to wheel wells up to 8 3/8inch bolts front and back. May fold fenders and weld. You may weld the front clip solid. The fenders CANNOT be welded to the frame.

8.    Windows- Windshield may have 2 bars 3 inch wide no more than 6inch on the firewall and 6inch on roof; may connect with 2 bars 3inch by 3/8inch max. Cannot be connected to any hood or trunk bolt. Rear window may have 2, 3 inch c channel by 3/8inch max. No more than 6inch on roof and 6inch on trunk or speaker deck. You may have number 9 wire in 2 spots in each window.

9.    BUMPERS- If you decide to manufacture a homemade bumper it must conform to the following size limits: It can be no larger than 8inch by 8inch. The point must taper over an area of AT LEAST 32inch. Overall the bumper cannot exceed 12inch wide at the tip of the point. The point may only extend out 4inch past the flat part of the bumper. The bumper must be completely in front of frame rails. No part of the bumper may extend back past the furthest forward most point of the frame. Any factory automotive bumper bracket is allowed or a 4 by wide to front part of the A arm bracket with a 3/8 thick flat stock.

10. Drive Train- Motor and tranny of choice. Maybe welded or chained, the motor tie down CANNOT exceed 2inch in front or behind the heads to top or side of frame 2 by 3/8 flat stock and cannot be laid flat on frame. Dp can be touching firewall. You can run a 2 by 2 bar from dash bar to dp on old iron cars only. Can run 3/8inch X 2inch flat stock hold downs from the midplate to the frame, only 1 per side. Mid plates cannot be wider than the motor. Trany cross member can be 3 inch c channel with no bigger than a 4 by 5 plate on the ends to mount it to the frame. Full engine protectors can only be tied to the engine cross member. Engine cradles 1 inch cradles OK 5\8inch max for add-ons, head plate, mid plate ?no wider then motor" and dp.

11. Suspension- Rear suspension must remain stock; full floater rear ends are ok. Double coils are o.k. on coil cars. You may leaf or run a 30 inch hump plate that has to fallow the outside contour of the frame. You have up to 9 leafs per side and maybe clamped in 6 spots per side. Must be factory springs out of a car or light truck. Rear end maybe chained in 2 spots per side of car. Coil springs may be wired in. Upper and lower trailing arms maybe reinforced, they still have to function in a factory manor. The Front suspension may be welded with 2- 2inch by 5 straps DO NOT strengthen frame or a arms that can bolted or use spring spacers for height. Tie rods maybe reinforced, but must function in a factory manor. 03 and newer can change aluminum cradle to steel. NO IMP OR DOBA CRADDLES. A arms cannot be reinforced. Tires you may run any tire you see fit foam it, double it whatever you have to do to not get a flat.

12. Frame repairs- If frame is rusted you may fix it with same thickness plate 1 inch past the rust hole (Don?t CUT THE RUST SPOT OUT). You may weld a plate 1inch past a bend. 20 inches max per side no longer than 6inches long pieces in the front of the car and 10 inches long in the back of car and must have a 1 inch gap between plates no doubling up plates one side of frame only with a 1/4 plate only. Floor repairs must be sheet metal only or you won?t run. Frame swaps are ok. 

Limited Weld Class Rules

"Old iron and 80s and Newer will run together to these rules"

Halo bar no farther back then 15 inches from center post on 4 door cars or 8 inch on 2 door cars. Can be welded to frame and bolted to roof. Halo bar can be attached to the door bars. You can have 1 down bar 2inch max from the door bars only located within the front inside door seam and straight down to the frame. Can be welded to top side and cannot run down the side of frame. And 1 in the middle of the front door to sheet metal only. You can run a gas tank protector that must mount from the behind the seat bar 30inch wide and can go to the sheet metal but must be within the frame rails with no down bars and be off the floor 2inches.

Trunk may have a strap from bumper to the trunk no farther up than 6inch from lower trunk seam. You may tuck trunks. NO sedagons, decking must be removed.

4.    Seam welding- Frame can be welded fire wall forward top only. K-frame CAN be welded solid, May take out pucks and replace with 1inch bolts. You can have a 5 inch 2inch by 2inch angle iron to help hold tranny cross member on and cannot go to crush box or gusset or you will cut it off the frame to get it at the 5inch. Tranny cross member must be bolted to the 5 inch angle iron. No frame shaping. Sway bar can be welded in the front of car in factory spot the width of frame and cannot run down the frame.

5.    Body bolts- You may remove pucks front and back, you may add 1 extra body bolts per side which can go to frame with a max of 6inchx 6inch washer?s and a 1inch bolt washers cannot be welded to the sheet metal or frame. Tranny cross member can be a max of 2 by 3inch.

6.    Core support- Core support may have a 2 by 2 1/4inch angle iron on the top of core support from fender to fender. NO relocation of core support or mounts must be in factory spot. Radiator barrels are o.k. BUT must be factory size, CANNOT touch the frame in any way, CANNOT be welded to the angle iron at all, Bolted in 4 spots to core support or 4 -4inch welds to core support to hold it in place. Must run vent tub under the car! Radiators can have a guard in front but must be a max of 1/4inch and 1inch past the ac condenser opening and bolted in 4 spots.

7.    Fenders- May bolt fenders to wheel wells up to 8 3/8inch bolts front and back. May fold fenders and weld. If you weld them you can?t use the bolts. If you bolt them you can?t weld them. The fenders CANNOT be welded to the frame.

8.    Windows- Windshield may have 2 bars 3inch wide 3/8inch thick max no more than 6inch on the firewall and cannot touch the straps from the dash bar and 6inch on roof. May connect with 2 bars 3inch by 3/8inch max. Cannot be connected to any hood or trunk bolt.
Rear window may have 1 3inch by 3/8inch max c channel No more than 6inch on roof and 6inch past the trunks top seam. You may have no. 9 wire in 2 spots in each window.

9.    BUMPERS- If you decide to manufacture a homemade bumper it must conform to the following size limits: It can be no larger than 8inch by 8inch. The point must taper over an area of AT LEAST 32inch. Overall the bumper cannot exceed 12inch wide at the tip of the point. The point may only extend out 4inch past the flat part of the bumper. The bumper must be completely in front of frame rails. No part of the bumper may extend back past the furthest forward most point of the frame. Any factory bumper bracket or a 4 by wide to front part of the A arm bracket with a 3/8 thick flat stock.

10. Drive Train- Motor and tranny of choice, in stock location. Maybe welded or chained, the motor tie down CANNOT exceed 2inch in front or behind the heads to top of frame only 2 by 3/8 flat stock and cannot be laid flat on frame. No hold downs on back of motor when using a dp or mid plate. Dp can be touching firewall. Mid plates cannot be tied to the frame in any way or be wider than the motor. No extreme type full engine protectors. Engine cradles can be a max of 1/2 inch.

11. Suspension- Floater rear ends are ok, double coils are o.k. on coil cars. Leaf spring cars have up to 9 leafs per side and maybe clamped in 6 spots per side. Must be factory springs out of a car and CANNOT be home made. Rear end maybe chained in 2 spots per side of car. Coil springs may be wired in. Upper and lower trailing arms maybe reinforced, but they still have to function in a factory manor. The 99 and newer can change the rear suspension to the older style system. The 03 and newer cannot NOT change the front cradle must remain stock. A-arms cannot be welded to the frame in anyway no adding brackets and can run a gear box. Front suspension may be welded down with 2- 2 by 5inch 1/4inch long straps DO NOT weld them to the a arm?s must be frame to frame or bolted or spring spacers for height. Lower a arm can have a bar from lower a arm to bottom of frame and cannot go up the side of the frame in any way. Tie rods can be reinforced. A arms must be stock. Tires you may run any tire you see fit do whatever you have to do to not get a flat.

12. Frame repairs- If frame is rusted you may fix it with same thickness plate 1 inch past the rust hole (Don?t CUT THE RUST SPOT OUT). You may weld a plate 1inch past a bend. 20 inch max per side no longer than 6inches long pieces in the front of the car and 10 inches long in the back of car and must have a 1 inch gap between plates and welds cannot touch one side of frame only with a 1/4 plate only. Floor repairs must be sheet metal only or you won't run.

Economy Class Rules

any car up to 108" rwd **NO FULL FRAME** or up to 113" fwd max

1.    Cage- Dash bar and behind seat bar and door bars allowed 2 inch min. diameter or square cannot be attached to frame. You may run a bar from dash bar to the firewall in 2 spots. Must be securely fastened or you will be told to remove. Halo bar no farther back then 10 inches from seat. Can be welded to frame and bolted to roof. Halo bar can be attached to the door bars. You can have 2 down bars from the door bars only located within the front inside door seam and straight down to rocker area. You can run a gas tank protector that must mount from the behind the seat bar 30inch wide and can go to the sheet metal and has to be 2 inches from the floor with no down bars DO NOT WELD TO SHEET METAL!

Nothing can be put inside of frame to mount the bumper in the compact class unless it's a factor bumper bracket. Midsize may a 4 long inch piece of square tubing to help hold bumper on. Bumpers are interchangeable with any mass produced car bumper. Stock appearing bumpers: we will allow you to take any bumper apart, weld any material you would like to the inside of bumper and weld the chrome back on. Everything must be done inside of bumper nothing on the outside. Compact bumper brackets ONLY NO full size brackets.

9.    Drive Train- Motor and tranny of choice in stock location. No V8s. Maybe welded or chained, the motor tie down CANNOT exceed 2inch in front or behind the heads to top or side of frame 2 by 3/8 flat stock and cannot be laid flat on frame. Engine cradles are ok in the compacts only 1/2 max but must have stock motor mounts. No cradles in the Economy class. No full engine protectors.

Chain Truck Rules

This class is stock other than stated below. Truck must be prepared as stated in the general rules.

1.    Any 1974 or newer 2wd, 4wd, 1/2, 3/4, pick up, blazer, suburban, or van is allowed. Frame height 7inch max. No one ton, camper or ambulance frames. 4wd need to remove a driveshaft. 

2.    No welding, cutting, or bending frame unless specified elsewhere. 

3.    Bumpers - stock or a maximum 4inch X 4inch square tubing behind a factory skin and back bumper will be allowed. Front bumper may be any OEM bumper welded on one 4 inch by 4 inch gusset on each side. No Ag Bumpers.  Stuffed bumpers are allowed.

4.    Stock gas tanks must be removed. Steel tanks must be securely fastened and covered in the front center of box or rear passenger area. Gas line through box, cab, and firewall must be steel. 

5.    Ignition may be moved to be used with toggle switches and push button. 

6.    Shifters may be modified to floor 

7.    Tailgates must be chained in six spot, with 2 around the frame or bumper. May weld 1-1/4inch thick X 2inch tall X 2inch wide X 3? long angle iron from the bottom of the tailgate to the box floor.

8.    Up to 4 -1/2 inch bolts may be used to hold box and cab together. 4 extra bolts holding cab to frame must be used for driver?s safety. No replacing or adding box bolts allowed. 

9.    Only 1 battery is allowed, securely fastened in the front passenger area. 

10. Hood may be secured with up to 6 chains; only 2 can be around frame or bumper. 

11. Tranny cooler may be relocated inside cab and must be covered. 

12. Welded or Posi type rear-ends allowed. 

13. Dash bar seat bar and windshield bar are required. 

14. Driver?s door bar is MANDATORY. You may have roll loop welded to frame and attached to the cab, no farther back than 10 inches from the back of the driver?s seat. No kickers. 

15.  Any tires are ok; split rims must be welded well. 

16. Driver?s window must have safety net. 

17. Exhaust may be through hood, if not you must cut 12 inch by 12 inch hole for fire suppression. 

18. 2 chains per door seam. Driver?s door may be welded solid and have safety brace. 

19. Any engine and tranny allowed, solid motor mounts, reinforcing frame.

20. Bumpers and wheel wells may be trimmed. 

21. Suspension and drive train must be stock for model year. 

No body or suspension lifts allowed. Any lifts must be removed prior to entering the event.
